SÍNTESIS HISTÓRICA
La Universidad Regional del Sureste, encuentra su antecedente histórico en el Instituto de Ciencias y Artes de Oaxaca fundado el 8 de enero de 1827. En 1955, el gobernador Manuel Cabrera Carrasquedo, convirtió este Instituto en la Universidad “Benito Juárez” de Oaxaca, quien posteriormente obtiene su autonomía.
Así, el 2 de junio de 1977, el Presidente de la República José López Portillo, da su anuencia para fundar una nueva Universidad que por diversas razones, tuvo que constituirse como Institución particular, bajo el régimen de Asociación Civil y con la denominación de “Universidad Regional del Sureste” (URSE), que ostenta hasta la fecha.
El 27 de abril de 1978, el gobernador del estado, General Eliseo Jiménez Ruíz, le otorgó Reconocimiento de Validez Oficial de Estudios, en Acuerdo número 13 publicado en el Periódico Oficial de fecha 15 de mayo del mismo año.
El 27 de junio de 1978, la Secretaría de Educación Pública dio validez en toda la República Mexicana, a los estudios que se cursen en la URSE; el 6 de octubre del mismo año, los planes de estudio de las carreras y demás estudios que imparte la URSE, quedaron inscritos en la Dirección General de Profesiones.
